Pfaff, Gill & Ports Joins in Call to Preserve Funding for Legal Services Corporation

The American College of Trial Lawyers (ACTL) is an invitation-only association of exceptional trial lawyers in North America. Pfaff & Gill, Ltd. Trial Lawyers was inducted as a Fellow of the ACTL in Spring 2017. Our firm believes strongly in the ACTL’s mission to improve access to justice for all Americans, and the fair and just representation of all parties to legal proceedings.

Legal Services Corporation (LSC) is an independent nonprofit that was established by Congress in 1974 to provide financial support for civil legal aid to low-income Americans. It is the largest provider of civil legal services for the poor, funding 133 legal aid programs in 800 offices across the United States. The proposed U.S. Government budget for FY 2019, released last month by the White House, threatens to eliminate funding of the LSC.

We fully support adequate funding of legal services for the poor and oppose the proposed cuts to funding of LSC.  Everyone should have access to justice, not just those who can afford legal representation.
