Hospital negligence could lead to additional trauma in Illinois

On Behalf of | Nov 18, 2016 | Hospital Negligence |

Suffering from a serious injury or illness can be difficult for anyone to handle. If the injuries or other negative effects have resulted due to hospital negligence, there may be additional difficulties to address than just the health issues. If individuals believe that medical errors resulted in their suffering unnecessarily, they may have cause to file medical malpractice claims.

Illinois residents may be interested in such a case taking place in another state. Reports indicated that a man has filed a lawsuit against a medical group and a doctor due to his suffering injury and additional illness after a medical procedure. The man had apparently undergone a colonoscopy, and during the procedure, the doctor caused a perforation in the man’s rectal wall.

The tear caused the man to suffer acute abdominal peritonitis, which can be life-threatening in some cases. As a result, surgery had to be performed. The man is currently seeking compensation for the pain, mental distress, expenses and other damages suffered due to the negligence on the part of the doctor and medical group. The man is pursuing compensation exceeding $1 million.

Hospital negligence can often cause individuals to suffer additional trauma, and as this case shows, more medical treatment may be necessary and serious damages could be incurred. If Illinois residents have suffered in such a manner due to such negligence or other medical errors, they may wish to file their own medical malpractice claims. Experienced attorneys could help interested parties assess their cases and determine their best approaches for moving forward.
