Surgical negligence claimed after skin cancer operation

A man in another state is suing his doctor after a surgery to remove skin cancer. The surgery was on his nose, and the man claims that he is now disfigured due to the doctor's mistakes. Illinois readers may be interested in this case of alleged surgical negligence.

The suit was filed on May 6. The patient claims that, on Jan. 21, 2013, he was told by the defendant doctor that he had skin cancer. The cancer was limited to an area on his nose. Surgical treatment for the condition was recommended.

Reportedly, the man was told the surgery would last from two to five hours. It was supposed to leave only a small scar. The surgical procedure occurred on March 13, 2013.

After the surgery, the complications arose, including a severe nose bleed. Once the doctor removed the stitches, the patient was left with a lump on his nose and a large indented scar. His nose was also broadened to the point that it is now difficult for him to fit prescription glasses on his face properly.

The patient claims to be disfigured and suffer from continual pain, tearing in both eyes and ongoing sinus problems. Reportedly, these conditions all started after the surgery. Moreover, another doctor found that he suffered a deviated septum. The surgeon is accused of medical malpractice. Illinois patients who have suffered injuries due to apparent surgical negligence may wish to speak to an attorney who can assess the circumstances and advise about the prospects of filing a civil suit for malpractice.
