$6.4M Plaintiff's Verdict

A Cook County jury rendered a $6.4 million verdict yesterday in Trotter v. Waste Management of Illinois, Inc., No. 13 L 8411.

Plaintiff, a 57-year-old orthopedic surgeon, was a passenger in a cab struck by a Waste Management street sweeper traveling the wrong way on Clark Street in the Loop. He suffered an injury to his right shoulder that required surgery and physical therapy. Plaintiff returned to full-time work as an orthopedic surgeon 2 months after surgery, but is no longer able to perform the more physically demanding orthopedic surgeries.

The last offer was $2M. Plaintiff's last demand was a High-Low of $2M - $6M. The jury deliberated for 2 hours.

Michael Gill of Pfaff, Gill & Ports, Ltd. represented the Dr. Trotter at trial.
